My 14 year old cousin died.

January 29, 2008

I gave up my trip to vegas to attend my cousin's funeral in Georgia.

Sad, sad, news.... My cousin Lisa's son passed away on January 17th of leukemia. They didn't even know he had it until it was too late. They thought he had a cold like everyone else, but he didn't get better when everyone else did so they brought him into the hospital where he died. I had the opportunity to get to know him well while he was growing up when I lived in Georgia. He was a unique individual who liked to read lots of books. He bragged that he read more books in a year than most people in thier life. He really enjoyed dragon books. He went to the library the day before he died and checked out, Pendragon -- Book Eight: The Pilgrims of Rayne and had it almost finished before he died the next day. His mom finished it for him. The librarian told her she could keep the book, what was strange, the book was never on record of even being there. I feel so bad for my cousin, the loss of a child has got to be the worst feeling in the world to go through. They all like Criss Angel, Cameron had 2 younger sisters and one older brother, who will miss him dearly. When I stayed there I slept in his bed and had a dream he was going with us the following day to the mountains snow-tubing with his siblings. The next day his little sister (who is the size of a six year old) had a bad fall down the hill and four people ran over her, she said her brother Cameron was there protecting her. I believe it because she should have been hurt way worse than she was, and she just got back up and went to the top of the hill again like a trooper. The side of her face was red and everything. That's one tough little girl. We went with a group of kids from the local church who had invited us, it was alot of fun, that was the first time seeing so much snow. I was so scared being at the top of the hill I almost cried like a baby before going down, spinning in circles all the way down did not help...lol Anyway a lesson is to be learned here.... Life can end in a blink of an eye, without warning... So if your kids are driving you insane today, just smile and give them a hug. They may look at you as if you are crazy but just remember tomorrow is not promised to anyone. ....... RIP.. Cameron Michael Gerber, I love you and I am going to miss you!
